North East based community project Recyke Y’Bike is one of the 200 good causes to receive financial support courtesy of MERKUR UK’s ground-breaking social programme.
A partnership between the company, its staff and its customers the social programme provides financial assistance to nominated charities as well as progressive not for profit organisations based in towns and cities where MERKUR has venues.
MERKUR UK Director Tony Boulton said: “MERKUR awards have been made to a diverse group of organisations.
“As well as Recyke Y’Bike recipients have included a swimming club for people with special needs, an organisation which provides Tai Chi courses for adults with long-term physical and mental health conditions and a Sunderland-based community kitchen for women survivors of domestic abuse.
“The 46 charities that we have supported have been nominated by team members and our customers. They include Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, Bowel Cancer UK, the RSPCA, Prostate Cancer UK, the RNLI, The Stroke Association and Age UK.”
He added: “We are proud to show how it’s possible to be both a successful commercial enterprise and a good corporate citizen helping those in society who face difficult and challenging circumstances.”
