Ain’t No Mountain High Enough!

No doubt channelling her inner Diana Ross Blueprint’s intrepid Director of Operations Nadia Timofeev has celebrated the ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro, in the process raising a magnificent £6,000 for her nominated charity the Children’s Bereavement Centre in Newark.

As if making the 5,895m climb wasn’t enough Nadia took the challenge up a notch or two completing the ascent in less than 5-days compared to the usual eight to eleven favoured by most people.

Reflecting on the achievement she said: “We started the trek on 8th January at 2pm and got down from the mountain at 11am on the 13th

“We deliberately selected a remote route meaning that we were alone with the mountain which really helped us to enjoy the stunning beauty that was all around us. The slow trek to the summit – Uhuru peak – was a perfect way to meet the sunrise on the roof of Africa!”

Nadia had a very personal reason for taking on the challenge which spurred her on.  “Just over a year ago my dear friend Olga passed away after a courageous battle with cancer” she explained.  “Olga left behind three wonderful children, who are now navigating life without both of their parents, as their father passed away a year earlier.

“The work that the Bereavement Centre in Newark undertakes to support families facing similar challenges means a lot to me.

“The charity’s mission to provide care, comfort, and hope to those dealing with illness and loss is something I wholeheartedly support.

“£6,000 will fund 30 children through bereavement counselling which can make a world of difference to a grieving child.”

Nadia is already planning her next adventure. She confirmed: “The world is too big and beautiful to not to try things so on the 21st June I will be attempting the SAS selection march test which involves a 24km march/run over Pen y Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons – whilst carrying a minimum 25 lb pack !”
