Derby-based DOSportUK, which provides sporting opportunities to people with a disability is the latest not for profit organisation to benefit from MERKUR Community, the initiative which is funded by the company alongside its high street customers.
The MERKUR Community funding will cover court hire and coaching costs for DOSportUK’s Derby Warriors basketball team which has a mix of adult and youth players.
DOSportUK Managing Director Jacob Meaton, said: “We are thrilled to get this support from MERKUR. Our Derby Warriors basketball sessions are not easy to sustain and the costs are increasing season on season.
“This funding will allow us to continue the good work we are doing and create more opportunities for people in the area of Derby!”
Tony Boulton, who has overseen the development of MERKUR Community underlined the importance of assisting organisations such as DOSportUK. He said: “Charities the length and breadth of the country are facing a severe financial squeeze which impacts their ability to help the most vulnerable in society.
“MERKUR UK is delighted to be able to help fund the work of DOSportUK and support their core vision which states that physical opportunities should be available to everyone – with no exceptions.”
