Pubs are part of British heritage and MERKUR UK is investing in games and technology which will also help them be part of our future.
In 2023 nearly 10 pubs closed every week and trade body The British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) has projected the loss of up to a further 750 venues in the first six months of this year.
Sascha Blodau, General Manager of MERKUR UK, which includes operator Regal Gaming Technologies among its’ family of UK brands, has highlighted the growing importance of gaming machine income to Britain’s under pressure pubs.
He said: “Britain now has its lowest ever number of pubs and the feedback that we are receiving via the team at Regal Gaming Technologies is that an increasing number of venues are relying on their machine revenue in order to keep trading and to continue to serve the wider community.”
He noted: “Regal Gaming Technologies is standing shoulder to shoulder with the pub sector. In 2023 it invested £22m into its machine estate, a strong commitment which delivered an increase in gaming revenues for its customers.
“In order to maintain our support for the UK pub sector we will continue to invest in new equipment and the latest technologies as well as support the industry’s case for the first increase in Category C stake and prize levels for over a decade.”
“Pubs are an essential part of British culture and the low stake gambling entertainment industry can make an important contribution to their future viability.”
