Families across Milton Keynes will receive extra support this winter thanks to a £12,000 donation from the MERKUR Community scheme to MK Food Bank in the process helping to ensure that children are fed and stay warm through the colder months.
The MERKUR Community initiative was created to back those groups that make a real difference to people’s lives. This latest partnership with MK Food Bank reflects that mission — supporting a service that has become a lifeline for families facing food insecurity and financial hardship.
Louisa Hobbs, Operations Manager at MK Food Bank, praised the donation, saying it “genuinely means that local families can feed their children and use heating and hot water for longer during the coldest months.”
Speaking to the MK Citizen, she confirmed: “The trustees and staff at MK Food Bank are thrilled that MERKUR has chosen to support our services again this year. This generous grant will help us reach even more residents across Milton Keynes who are struggling right now. On behalf of our community, our very grateful thanks to everyone at MERKUR.”
From very humble beginnings, MK Food Bank has grown to operate 13 distribution centres and now works with over 100 partner agencies, offering vital food and household support to those most in need.

Since its launch, the MERKUR Community programme which is jointly funded by MERKUR and the generosity of its high street customers, has donated more than £287,000, supporting some 120 community groups and charities across the UK. The company remains committed to being a responsible community partner by investing in projects that bring real value to people who need help and support.
