It may not have been on the same scale as Euro 2024 but the summer football tournament organised by MERKUR Casino succeeded in entertaining 200 fans at the same time as raising £13,000 for good causes.
Held at the Tattenhoe Sports Pavilion, a long-throw from MERKUR UK’s Milton Keynes head office the tournament featured a total of 20 intrepid teams.
The victorious male team was drawn from sister company Regal Gaming Technologies who defeated MERKUR 2-1 after extra time.
The women’s final was an even closer fought affair with Foleshill Area 7 representing the Midlands overcoming Area 8 from West London after penalties.
Mark Schertle, Chief Operating Officer, MERKUR Casino UK, said: “It was great to see so many of our business partners and employees come together for an outstanding afternoon of friendly football in aid of charity.
“We never anticipated raising anywhere near £13,000 – and our thanks go to everyone for their fundraising efforts and their overwhelming generosity.”
“Such was the success of the day it is our intention to harness the fantastic positivity and good will that was on-show in Milton Keynes to make the tournament into an annual event!”
The money raised will be distributed to good causes via the MERKUR Initiative programme which has awarded over £75,000 to 44 charities, community projects and good causes across the country.
