MERKUR UK brand ambassador Will Bayley is on course for glory in next year’s Paris Paralympics
Can there be any better Brand Ambassador than Will Bayley OBE?
Probably not if recent developments are anything to go by!
In September, just a year after becoming the company’s first Ambassador, Will defeated the Netherlands’ Jean-Paul Montanus to win his first European para-table tennis title since 2011 and in the process guarantee his place in next year’s Paralympic Games in Paris.
But it’s not just his playing prowess that’s captured the hearts of the MERKUR team – it’s his humility and his commitment to the company that stands Will apart as Tony Boulton, Director of Public and Political Relations explained.
“Will has a real interest in the work we undertake supporting not for profit organisations which contribute so much to communities the length and breadth of the country” Tony stated.
“Shortly after he won Gold in Sheffield I dropped Will a text to congratulate him on his success not expecting to hear anything for a while. Instead, he came straight back saying how much he really appreciated the support he received from the entire MERKUR UK team.
“Quite early on in his role as Brand Ambassador Will provided a highly personal insight to a conference attended by 200 of our Venue Managers and no one who was present will forget it.
“The address focussed on the challenges that he has faced – including his battle against childhood cancer – and the reasons which drive his personal philosophy of ‘Inspire: Believe: Achieve:’
“The speech earned him a standing ovation and the genuine affection of the entire team.
“To have a Gold Medal winning athlete as part of the brand is hugely inspiring and we couldn’t be happier to have Will on-board!”
