Sascha Blodau, General Manager, MERKUR UK commented: “The deadly earthquake which struck without warning has left thousands dead and injured many more. People have been left without shelter in freezing winter conditions and are desperately in need of blankets, emergency shelter, food and clean water.
“Donating to the DEC appeal enables charities and their local partners to scale up their response and reach more people. According to the DEC £10 provides blankets to keep two people warm, £25 secures emergency food for a family for ten days and £50 can provide emergency shelter for two families.
“This is an appalling human disaster and our hearts go out to the people of southern Turkey and north-west Syria.”
